Hallie Masler of Westwood snapped this gull last month as they both sailed Alaska's Inside Passage. "The clouds lent an eerie light to the open vistas while the sea gulls delighted in swooping all around our ship," Masler says. "I just stood out on deck and clicked away, ending up with this perfectly positioned gull in flight." Her birthday trip included trips to Fairbanks and Denali, then ended with the seven-day cruise. She used a Canon PowerShot SD850 IS Digital Elph to capture this shot.
